Martin went to Art School in Manchester to become a rock star... he met Sheila, a classical pianist who wanted to play bass guitar. They needed some songs and Mike had lots of songs. They needed a drummer and Howard had a drum kit he hadn't played for ten years. They got together in Sheila's living room and made a terrible noise, which eventually turned into perfect pop music. They made records, they toured, they made the cheapest videos ever shown on national TV, and five years later they broke up.
