Summer Cats
(Australia) Victoria
Summer Cats are two girls and three boys from Melbourne, Australia. Like most people from Melbourne, they spend their time either: a) enjoying summer or b) waiting for summer to arrive.
They play crash pop influenced by the UK c86 sounds, US early 90's sounds (K Records and Slumberland). Musically they are somewhat of a cross between Talulah Gosh and the Left Banke.
Summer Cats started playing live at the start of 2007. After playing only two shows, they managed to get a three and a half star review on Pitchfork for one of their demos. This then led to them thinking they could have a chat with the rest of world, and they have since been busy trying to do just that.
They have released a split 7" with Eux Autres released on Knock Yr Socks Off Records, a 3" three track CDR on Cloudberry records and a 5 track EP Scratching Post on Popboomerang Records. Scheduled for release in 2008 is a 7" on Cloudberry, a split 7" on Slumberland and an EP on WeePOP Records.
More information can be found on the band's myspace and facebook pages.
