Some words about the search:
You can add multiple words or phrases separated by spaces. A phrase
is a number of words enclosed in double-quotes e.g. "East Village".
A matching post has to contain all the words and phrases you entered.
When searching for single words without quotes, various forms of the word may be
found, e.g. 'play' finds 'plays', 'played' and 'playing' as well.
The results are always limited to 100. So if you see a 100+ matching
posts, you should limit your search further by adding another word
or phrase.
As many other search engines, we use the concept of noise-words.
These are common words such a 'the, my, this...'. These words
are ignored in the search. This is also true for single letters and numbers. This
is normally a good thing, but is raises some problems. For example
you can't search for "Club 8", it always returns all
messages with 'Club' and ignores the '8'.
You can limit the posts to an author by adding author:name
at the beginning of your search e.g.
author:julian "Field Mice" Manchester
or
author:"Steven Thornton" postcard "orange juice"
Similary you can use subject:text in your seach, e.g.
subject:"twee socks"
or both author and subject:
author:alexander subject:swedish
Show only posts from 1998:
year:1998
Order by date, subject or author:
sort:date sort:subject sort:author
The search works the same for both the Indiepop and
Shalala list archives, but is different from the
main TweeNet search.
